Podgorica is the capital city of Montenegro, located in the centre of the country only 50km from the Adriatic Sea. It is the political, administrative, cultural, economic, scientific, educational and sports center of Montenegro.

The name Podgorica originated in 1326 and it was built amongst five rivers, the Zeta, Moraca, Ribnica, Cijevna and Sitnica. Most of the city was destroyed during WWII, so Podgorica is relatively new, with modern buildings and a lot of green spaces.
Podgorica hosts a number of cultural events and there are many theatres, such as Crnogorsko Narodno, Gradsko and Dodest.
One of the most interesting parts of Podgorica municipality is the National Park Skardarsko or Skadar Lake, the biggest lake in the Balkans, which has an amazing number of birds and plants, of which some are very rare.
The Ribnica Delta in Morača is the city's historical center. The Sahat Kula (Clock Tower is one of the few Ottoman architectural structures that survived World War II.
Podgorica is a city where various cultures, religions, and nations have intertwined as demonstrated by the Orthodox, Catholic, Islamic, and Jewish temples that you can visit.
