The Location and Facilities

The clinic is located in the picturesque countryside of Italy’s Le Marche region, amongst the rolling hills and sun-drenched olive groves, in a rustic, converted farmhouse. On first sight you’d be forgiven for mistaking the centre for a hotel or villa complex. The residence can accommodate up to 26 guests in comfortable en- suite double bedrooms, equipped with modern amenities such as a swimming pool, state-of-the-art gym, football field, volleyball court, therapy rooms, an art and craft studio, yoga and meditation rooms, a cinema screen and satellite TVs, as well as shared kitchen, living and dining spaces.

The centre also runs cooking, language, yoga, pottery, photography and gardening classes for patients to partake in during their rehabilitation. All activities (as well as all therapies) are provided in both English and Italian.

The highly trained and expert multidisciplinary team includes psychiatrists, psychologists, nursing staff, activity leaders, psychotherapists and counsellors. Comprehensive Service - Detoxification & Rehabilitation

The majority of addictions cause depression after prolonged and consistent use of the drug of choice. This is caused by the change in neurotransmitters, the substances provoke and affect specific parts of the brain.

For a long period of time, the addict needs to abstain from all the substances they are using. The medical procedure to treat the addiction to alcohol and other substances is done in two consecutive phases:

Stage 1 Detoxification Phase

- where the patient detoxifies their body & is assisted with the physical complications of the withdrawal process. This phase is very important. It may be the first time in years that the patient has experienced life without using any type of drug.

The patient needs to feel safe, supported and understood at this very important stage.

Stage 2 Rehabilitation Phase

- where patients are provided with psychiatric and psychological support daily to work through the patients insecurities, socially, psychologically and to work on their self-esteem so they don’t feel any desire to “use” in the future.

Motivational interventions and therapy are done in groups and in individual therapy sessions.

Discussion therapy helps the patient understand and confront their emotional issues and supports them through the counseling process so that they understand their addiction and a treatment plan is devised to ensure their sobriety so they can live their life in a clean, positive way.

Therapeutic Approach

The activities of the centre are based on the innovative idea of the “therapeutic continuum”: a treatment of addiction and substance abuse that consists of several different stages.

The first phase is an assisted detox, where patients forgo the use of addictive substances and attempt to find a better psycho-physical balance. This phase is overseen by a specialised team of doctors and nurses and aided by the use of advanced technologies from the Diagnostic Centre.

The second stage is the short residential stay and treatment programme. This 8 week treatment is based on a holistic, multidisciplinary approach, which applies medical, psychological, educational and spiritual practices and techniques to treat addiction. Here clients benefit from the most up-to-date and intensive group and individual therapies.

In addition to the more formal therapies offered, clients are encouraged to get fit and explore new life-enhancing skills; setting them up for a more rounded, healthier lifestyle that will serve them long after their stay ends.

Therapeutic Innovations: Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)
