Italy

Best Healthcare System

According to the 2016 Bloomberg Global Health Report, Italy is:

• 1st for ‘Healthiest Country in Western Europe’ - followed by Switzerland and Spain;

• 2nd for ‘Healthiest Country in the World’ - after Singapore for World’s Healthiest Country;

• 3rd for ‘Best Healthcare System in the World’

According to a recent World Health Organization Report, Italy scored 2nd place for the ‘Best Healthcare System in the World’.

Through the years, ‘health first’ - a well-known Italian saying - has truly become an inspiring credo, leading the ‘Bel Paese’ to extend the tradition of a Mediterranean diet to encompass a more well-rounded and balanced approach to life.

Several studies have proven that a balanced diet consisting of seasonal fruit and vegetables, unrefi ned cereals, a moderate-to-high consumption of fish and fewer meat and dairy products, drastically reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Italy’s extremely efficient healthcare system encourages regular preventive screenings and check-ups, enabling Italians to fight off chronic yet preventable diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease, diabetes and certain infectious diseases.

Sport and leisure are also an important feature in everyday life.

For lovers of art, food and life in general Italy has it all.

Around every corner there is delight and surprise and Rome, Venice and Milan all offer the visitors something different. Rome is a magical city ready to be explored with iconic buildings, the Vatican, Patheon or the Colosseum, magnificent landmarks like the Trevi Fountain or museums such as Museo e Galleria Borghese.

You are spoilt for choice and add the pavement cafes and the restaurants for a long lingering lunch or dinner, Rome really does have it all.

Visiting Venice is a unique experience. With the city rising out of the canals, it enthrals and enchants. Spend time exploring its back streets with their hidden piazzas and lace and glass workshops. People watch in the Piazza San Marco or join the locals in the renowned Venice Jazz Club.

If your tastes are more designer, then it has to be Milan. Whether it is established or emerging names in fashion they are all here. There is much to discover with historic and modern architecture and take opportunity to join the locals for an early evening aperitivi before enjoying the Milanese nightlife.

No matter what, a visit to Italy is unforgettable.
