Leading Internal Medicine & Diagnostics Clinic in Cologne

The Leading Internal Medicine & Diagnostics Clinic in Cologne

This internal medicine practice was founded over 20 years ago.

The clinic focuses on your health

In this private practice, they offer comprehensive internal medical care in the areas of internal medicine, cardiology, gastroenterology, hepatology, pulmonology, nephrology, primary care, and preventive medicine.

They place great importance on the internal collaboration within the team of physicians as well as the interdisciplinary exchange with other departments at the private clinic which is located within the same building.
That's the 360° concept.

Uniting medical expertise
Given the various specialisations of the internal medicine team, they cover a very broad spectrum of internal medicine.

They closely collaborate internally in medical consultation and treatment. Especially challenging findings are discussed in an expanded review panel, ensuring that patients always benefit from the experience of the entire medical team and receive the best possible therapy.

They take the time that is required - As a patient, you are their focus
They offer medical services for privately insured patients and self-payers with the expertise as well as experience of their specialist doctors, the latest medical equipment, and above all, a lot of time.

Taking the time to listen to patient’s concerns carefully and initiating further diagnostic steps together with the patients is at the core of their practice concept – and is very important to them.

The Center for Internal Medicine specialises in prevention and diagnostics.

CheckUp medicine is as diverse as the individual people they care for.

The modules of the check-up programs are selected according to the patient‘s requirements and underlying diseases.

There are special programs for smokers (smokers check) and liver diseases (fatty liver, alcoholics) or allergy sufferers (asthma check), heart diseases (cardio Check).

They perform gastroscopies, colonoscopies, as well as stress echocardiography.

Additionally, they have a body plethysmograph for detailed lung function diagnostics.

Their offerings are highly differentiated and include many other treatments and methods for early detection, tailored to the patient’s individual needs

List of Services:

•    Lung function diagnostics
Lung function tests include ventilation, diffusion and perfusion measurements, supplemented by blood gas analysis.

•    Stress echocardiography
Stress echocardiography is one of the most important and accurate diagnostic measures for clarifying possible circulatory disorders of the heart muscle and chest pain (angina pectoris).

This method is able to detect wall-motion abnormalities of the heart, which are triggered by a lack of oxygen during exercise.

Many instances of heart disease, in particular coronary heart disease, require very diligent and extensive diagnostics. Statistically, the stress ECG only detects an existing circulatory disorder in around 60-70% of patients. Stress echocardiography with computer-assisted evaluation is therefore frequently used in particular to improve the accuracy of non-invasive diagnostics.

•    Nasal provocation
During nasal provocation, allergens are applied to the nasal mucosa through a spray solution, causing it to swell with itching, sneezing, and a runny nose in the event of an allergic reaction.

•    Pricktest
Pricktests are used to detect immediate allergic reactions.

Test allergens in drop form are applied to the skin and superficially punctured into the skin with a fine lancet or needle.

•    Colonoscopy
During a colonoscopy, the entire colon is examined while lightly sedated using a specialised endoscope called a colonoscope. This is a flexible tube approximately 1.5 meters long and 1 cm in diameter. The procedure is used, for example, for the prevention and early detection of cancer. If necessary, polyps can also be removed during the examination.

•    Gastroscopy
A Gastroscopy can help to investigate suspicions of conditions such as gastritis and stomach or duodenal ulcers. Using a flexible thin tube (gastroscope), the procedure examines the esophagus, stomach, and a portion of the duodenum. The procedure is done while lightly sedated.

•    ECG diagnostics (resting and exercise ECG)
Blood pressure and heart rate analysis at rest (cardiac rhythm and circulatory disorders).

•    Laboratory tests
For example Complete blood count, liver profile, kidney profile, electrolytes, tumour markers (CEA, PSA), CRP, thyroid values, vascular risk factors: Fat metabolism, homocysteine/lipoprotein a, coagulation factors: Quick/PTT value. Urine strip test and stool examination for occult (unnoticed) blood.

•    Long-term blood pressure and ECG Diagnostics
•    Sleep apnoea diagnostics
•    Colour Doppler echocardiography (ultrasound examination of the heart)

Computer-assisted analysis of cardiac work and cardiac performance - analysis of contraction work and relaxation movement. Investigation for diseases of the heart valves and heart muscle damage.

•    Colour duplex sonography of the vessels supplying the brain
Colour duplex sonography is an imaging procedure for visualising the important vessels supplying the brain (for identifying constrictions, calcifications) with measurement of the flow velocities and assessment of the cerebral perfusion, as well as the risk potential.

•    Duplex sonography of the abdominal organs
The ultrasound examination is used to visualise the internal organs, such as the liver/kidneys with the vessels, gall bladder, pancreas, spleen, abdominal vessels, paravalvular lymph nodes, bladder, prostate (in men), uterus (in women), and to search for diseases.

•    Duplex sonography of the thyroid gland
The thyroid gland is of crucial importance for all metabolic processes in the body. It is prone to nodule formation and occasional malfunction; timely detection is greatly important in prevention.
